Challenge

When Intercable sold one of its divisions, a complex and high-stakes challenge emerged: migrating a large portion of its operations to a new Microsoft 365 tenant. This migration was critical, as it involved not only shifting users and devices but also ensuring that essential business tools—such as emails, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive—transitioned smoothly without disrupting daily operations.

The migration required:

• Moving users, emails, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and devices to a new tenant.
• Ensuring no data loss and minimal downtime.
• Maintaining business continuity despite the complexity and criticality of the migration.

The inability to conduct a full-scale test run before go-live raised concerns, prompting Intercable to seek an experienced partner with deep knowledge and expertise in successfully managing these types of operations.

Solution

To navigate this complex migration, Intercable chose Experts Inside for our extensive experience in similar projects. The tenant-to-tenant migration was carried out with the extensive expertise of the Experts Inside team and a carefully structured approach, complemented by the use of advanced migration tools.

The solution followed these key steps for a smooth and secure implementation:

• Assessment & Planning: The first step was a comprehensive assessment of the existing environment, followed by the creation of a detailed migration roadmap. This included risk management strategies, contingency plans, and a clear timeline for the migration process.
• Migration Execution: Using diverse migration tools, data was transferred seamlessly from the old tenant to the new one. Everything that could be tested was thoroughly evaluated in "Test Flights," allowing us to verify the migration scenario with the client and create customized user communication for Intercable. The final cutover was then executed within a strict timeframe to ensure minimal disruption.

• Security & Compliance: Throughout the migration process, careful attention was paid to data integrity and security. The migration adhered to Microsoft 365 governance best practices to ensure full compliance and secure handling of sensitive data.
• Post-Migration Support: After the migration was completed, Intercable’s IT team received dedicated hypercare support to address any issues. Performance was closely monitored to ensure a smooth transition with minimal business impact.

Within nine months, everything was prepared and pre-migrated, ready to go live. Extensive testing was conducted throughout the process, covering everything that could be tested. However, as with any migration, the go-live itself carried some inherent risk since a full-scale trial wasn’t possible. Thanks to the expertise of Experts Inside, these challenges were managed effectively, ensuring a successful migration.
